Made entirely in France, to order
Each piece is made and finished to order in workshops in western France.
All solid wood used comes exclusively from sustainably managed French forests. We use no tropical hardwoods.
Our furniture is made in France, never imported. Production begins with your order, rather than manufacturing in batches to build up stock.
Depending on the model, we can adapt dimensions, finishes and internal layouts to your needs.
Quality in every detail
Solid wood is combined, where the design requires it, with engineered wood panels selected for their strength or stability. The materials used for each model are detailed in the “Dimensions, materials and finish” section.
Traditional joints, such as mortise-and-tenon and dovetail joints, are used where appropriate to ensure lasting strength.
The finish is applied by hand in three coats, including a protective varnish.
Each piece is checked by hand before dispatch.
During finishing, every GONTIER piece is branded with a “G”: our signature and our commitment to its quality.
Our commitments
Making to order to avoid excess stock and unnecessary production.
Keeping local craftsmanship alive in workshops that respect the women and men who work there.
Providing personal support at every stage of your order, through to delivery.
Premium delivery with personal support
In mainland France and selected European countries, your furniture is delivered to the room of your choice by two professional furniture handlers, with no lifting required on your part. Please see our Delivery page for the list of countries covered.
Our furniture is delivered assembled, except for beds, which require assembly. An optional in-home assembly service is available in areas covered by this service.
Delivery is by appointment. The carrier will offer a time slot, which you can confirm or discuss with them to arrange an alternative.
Your furniture travels wrapped in reusable protective blankets to protect it against knocks and minor scratches, without stapled packaging.
Before delivery, please check doorways, staircase widths and internal lift dimensions, especially for larger pieces. If you are unsure, contact us so we can review access together.
Additional charges may apply for particular access conditions or services, such as high-altitude deliveries, an external furniture lift, parking restrictions or delivery above the third floor without a lift. Please see our Delivery page for further details and tell us about these conditions when ordering so we can plan ahead.
If you notice damage or have concerns about the condition of your furniture on arrival, tell the delivery team before they leave and contact us. You may refuse a damaged piece; we will handle the matter with the carrier.
Delivery to other destinations
We also ship to other European countries and worldwide.
Depending on the destination, delivery is generally to the building entrance or your doorstep at ground-floor level, in a protective wooden crate. Delivery to your chosen room and unpacking are not included in this service.
Packing and transport costs are included in the shipping charges calculated at checkout after you enter your delivery address. Please contact us if your destination is not listed or if you would like to clarify the delivery arrangements.
Clear lead times and personal updates
The usual dispatch lead time is 5 to 6 weeks, unless a different timeframe is stated on the product page or when you order.
Delivery is then arranged by appointment, according to the carrier’s routes and your availability.
We follow your order through to receipt and keep you informed of any changes to the expected timeframe.
An accessible after-sales service
Our team is available by phone, email or chat for any questions before or after delivery.
If you need assistance, we work with you to find an appropriate solution.
We continue to offer advice and assess repair options even after the guarantee period has ended.
Guarantee and conditions
Each piece is checked by hand before dispatch.
Our furniture comes with a 5-year commercial guarantee covering manufacturing, assembly and finishing defects, subject to our guarantee terms.

Yes, if you’re looking for a distinctive, elegant piece of furniture that you’ll enjoy using and living with for many years.
Its price reflects the care that goes into making it, the choice of materials and the personal service you receive from order to delivery.
Made to order in France. Experienced craftspeople make your furniture in small workshops in Brittany and Normandy. Making each piece individually takes time and allows us to pay close attention to the details and adapt it to your wishes.
Carefully selected solid wood. We select grade 1 and 1+ timber from sustainably managed French forests. Our craftspeople work it with care to create furniture that is both beautiful and sturdy.
Joinery and fittings chosen to last. We choose each joint and fitting to suit the way the piece will be used, so it remains sturdy, comfortable to use and reliable over time.
Thoughtful design. Our furniture is designed in-house or by Christophe Lecomte, a graduate of the École Boulle who works in Vendée. Carefully considered proportions give each piece an elegance that outlasts passing trends.
Delivery and service to match. In mainland France and selected European destinations, two furniture delivery specialists bring your piece into the room of your choice by appointment. Furniture arrives fully assembled, with beds delivered ready for assembly and optional on-site assembly available. Every piece comes with a five-year guarantee.
So, is it worth buying?
→ That depends, of course, on your budget. At GONTIER, we put quality first at every stage, from selecting the timber to applying the finishing touches.
→ We choose every component, joint and step in the making of your furniture with beauty, strength and durability in mind. Those choices guide the price of the finished piece.
→ That attention to detail, rooted in the same standards as the luxury trades, is reflected in the price of your GONTIER furniture.
→ And there’s a particular pleasure in knowing who designed your piece, where it was made and that you might one day pass it on.
