What ceramics can I find at GONTIER?
Maison GONTIER uses ceramics for the table tops of the contemporary SIENNA and CANNES collections. We use 3mm-thick sheets in a finish called "vulcano" in a beautiful anthracite gray.
Ceramic can also be used on table tops of other models or collections. Coffee and dining tables can also be matched. Buffet tops can also be fitted with ceramic plates.
Other ceramic colors are also available: white, cream, light gray, brown, black, etc. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
Advantages and limitations of ceramics
Mixing ceramics, made from clay and minerals, with wood is very fashionable these days. The combination of these 2 materials works very well to create a contemporary look. It also reinforces the furniture's sturdy appearance.
Ceramic is resistant to high temperatures and is easy to clean with a warm damp sponge and a cloth to dry.
On the other hand, ceramic doesn't like shocks and can crack. For this reason, we offer wooden extensions as standard, rather than ceramic ones. When the extensions are folded under the tray, the 2 parts of the extension can sometimes hit against each other, which could crack the ceramic. In this way, we ensure that the extensions last longer.
